A Sonnet??
Have you ever tried to write a sonnet?
It's not as easy as you might suppose.
One needs heaps of brains beneath his bonnet
To disguise meaning in the words composed.
In Iambic Pentameter pen your thoughts
On life, of love, of lust or things now lost;
Or acts one did not do or thinks he ought
Reminiscing or considering their cost.
In only fourteen lines it must be done
And they should never sound like simple runes,
But flow like a river ...not ramb'ling on.
Well-written sonnets sing like heav'ly tunes.
(This type of writing's a pain in the butt
I've tried hard but not made a good one yet)

Eagle Scout Award Program
Preston and Janette Black invited us to their two oldest sons’ Eagle Scout Award program. (Skyler and Hunter). We’d never been to an award program like this before and it was so impressive. There were sixteen scouts getting the award – ALL FROM ONE WARD! Is that amazing or not??? Then there were a dozen or so younger scouts helping to post the colors . Anyone in the audience who had earned this award during their lifetime were invited to come on stage and sit in a semi-circle around the “Eagle’s Nest” to welcome the new Eagle Scouts as they joined them. We were impressed and hope to see Max and Joseph get their awards next year. Awesome!

Dear March
This morning it seemed like Christmas! You, Miss March, had covered the ground with snow and ice-frosted the trees! Memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas flashed thru my mind -- family, laughter, warmth, joy, aroma of turkey roasting and the taste of caramel and honey candies. That wisp of memory! Tomorrow your white wonderland will fade and whimper away with melted tears and Ill be glad. You were teasing us again..
Bring on your warmer side. We're ready for spring. Refresh the earth. The shy tulip bulbs peaking out yesterday, hesitant, will burst thru the ground; trees will bloom and the sweet smell of blossoms will fill the air. Earth will rejoice. See Persephone and her mother embrace? Spring will warm the earth; young lovers will kiss; the old couple will walk hand in hand unafraid of slippry sidewalks and the children will run and shout! Away with the snow, Miss March. We are ready for robins.

Early March
Early March! These are the days when memories stir in my mind. Spring sun glowing, soft warm rays, searching and then the canyon finds. Truly those were days of joy. Going barefoot in the sand -mattered not whether with girl or boy We walked together hand in hand and climbed the cliffs of salmon red for flowers in the sunlit cave. ‘Cliff Flowers’, rare, so they said. Slippery path! We must be brave! Home we’d go, a bouquet for mom and one for Auntie Iva. Shiny eyes – a happy song. It was Spring – best time of the year.
Opportunities
I feel like I have passed up many opportunities that would have benefited me. I wish I'd taken hold of them and met their challenges. Who knows--they undoubtedly would have yielded many gifts-- more empathy, more knowledge, more confidence in myself, etc. Perhaps even greater joy in life.

Reprieve
Can you guess who the person is in this picture? Could you name the little girl below? Do you think it's Jeanne? Nope. Guess again. The picture of this beautiful woman is Grandpa Hunt's sister, Ada. Isn't she beautiful? I think she looks like some of my girls and grandgirls! Do you?
We're not going to Blanding today! Bud is sick so we've cancelled our trip until the first part of March. (Oh good!! that is Cliff flower picking time if LaVern and I can beat the other pickers there) Today we get to have fun getting our income tax papers ready. Reprieve from "Dirty Seven" also. Too much of that lately....altho last night was fun teaching Ron and Shirley how to play Hand and Foot. They caught on sooo fast and are such good sports. Shirley and I won!!!

Blog succumbs to Facebook
Woe, woe, woe ! I webbed into the net to learn the family news but, woe again, I found BLOG had succumbed to Face Book (ugh). Can we resuscitate BLOG?
I know! I know! I know! I was definitely an accomplice in her demise. My fingers are bloody but…. No! My fingers are arthritic and unused.
I plead guilty by reason of temporary laziness, loss of memory and stupor of thought. I repent and plead for leniency and restoration of your BLOGS.
